Commending the Norfolk Christian High School boys' basketball team.

WHEREAS, the Norfolk Christian High School boys? basketball team won the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association, Division II state basketball championship on March 6, 2010, by defeating Cape Henry Collegiate School, 47 - 44; and

WHEREAS, the Norfolk Christian High School Ambassadors boys? basketball team finished the season with a record of 26 wins and four losses, including the regular season and tournament championship of the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools; and

WHEREAS, the Cape Henry Dolphins narrowed the Ambassadors? lead after trailing by 13 at the half, but the determined Norfolk Christian team parlayed a strong defense and good foul shooting to clinch the championship; and

WHEREAS, this is the first state championship for the Norfolk Christian High School boys? basketball team under the leadership of Head Coach and Athletic Director, Michael Allen; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding performance of the 2009 - 2010 Norfolk Christian High School boys? basketball team is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Michael Allen and his staff; and the support of the students, faculty, and parents of Norfolk Christian High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the 2009 - 2010 Norfolk Christian High School boys? basketball team on its state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach and Athletic Director Michael Allen as an expression of the General Assembly?s admiration for the triumphant performance of the 2009 - 2010 Norfolk Christian High School Ambassadors.
