Commending the West Springfield High School Dance Team.

WHEREAS, the talented dancers known as the West Springfield High School Dance Team, having won a top award at the 2011 National Dance Alliance competition, then took their amazing and unconventional hip-hop routines and dazzling choreography to a television audience when the group performed on America?s Got Talent reality television show later in the  year; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Fairfax County high school team, who are coached by Tara Perez and Jason King, were surprised and thrilled when the West Springfield Dance Team advanced to the final rounds of the variety show, which airs on NBC television; and

WHEREAS, the West Springfield Dance Team specializes in a distinct style of hip-hop dance, and its successes on America?s Got Talent are even more noteworthy because the group had only a short time to prepare four separate routines for the television show; and

WHEREAS, current members of the West Springfield High School Dance Team are Ellen Abood, Emily Barnes, Brianna Burns, Jordan Dey, Madeline Diez, Victoria Diez, May Ditnoy, Nicky Ditnoy, Hannah Ernst, Collin Hensley, Katie Lee, Danny Lora, Nicole Mobley, Riley O?Rourke, Jordan Penrod, Lauren Rader, Dori Shapiro, Breezy Thompson, Sarah Thompson, Kristin Toler, and Natalie Wawrzeniak, while Chelsea Kopf and Julian Asuncion also performed on the 2010 - 2011 team that appeared on America?s Got Talent; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the West Springfield High School Dance Team on its outstanding accomplishments; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the West Springfield High School Dance Team as an expression of the General Assembly?s congratulations for the team?s great success.
