Celebrating the life of Adam Maynard Bowen.

WHEREAS, Virginia State Police Trooper Adam Maynard Bowen of Warsaw, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, died in the line of duty June 24, 2011, while responding to a call for assistance; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Washington & Lee High School in Westmoreland County, Adam Bowen worked at the Haynesville Correctional Center after graduation before joining the United States Air Force National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Adam Bowen proudly served his country for five years as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, spending nine months in Kirkuk, Iraq; and

WHEREAS, upon honorable completion of his military service, Adam Bowen fulfilled an almost lifelong desire to become a Virginia State Police trooper by graduating from the Virginia State Police Academy in July 2008; and

WHEREAS, Adam Bowen was assigned to the Area 44 office, which includes King George and Caroline Counties, where he became known for his dedication to enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth, sense of humor, and support of his fellow law-enforcement officers; and

WHEREAS, during his too-brief tenure with the Virginia State Police, Adam Bowen evidenced the resolve, commitment, and integrity that is found in members of that organization as they face daily perils to protect and serve their fellow residents across the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Adam Bowen leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents, Glenn and Sue; fiancée, Rachel; brother, Kevin; numerous other family members and friends; and fellow law-enforcement officers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected law-enforcement professional, Adam Maynard Bowen; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Adam Maynard Bowen as an expression of the General Assembly?s abiding respect for his memory.
