Commending Dennis J. Hanrahan.

WHEREAS, Dennis J. Hanrahan, an Assistant Commonwealth?s Attorney for Loudoun County, will retire in 2012 after more than 25 years of distinguished service; and

WHEREAS, after proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, Dennis Hanrahan earned a bachelor?s degree from Iona College and a law degree from the George Mason University School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Hanrahan began his legal career in private practice and joined the Loudoun County Office of the Commonwealth?s Attorney in 1986; and

WHEREAS, a widely respected prosecutor, Dennis Hanrahan has ably served the residents of Loudoun County for more than a quarter century as he worked to bring criminals to justice and protect the local community; and

WHEREAS, actively involved in the local legal community, Dennis Hanrahan served as treasurer of the Loudoun County Bar Association and as a member of the Virginia State Bar and has been a role model for aspiring prosecutors; and

WHEREAS, committed to the well-being of Loudoun County, Dennis Hanrahan provided wise guidance and thoughtful insight as a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board and Board of Zoning Appeals; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Hanrahan currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Loudoun Credit Union and has also given of his time and talents to the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, Heritage Square Homeowners Association, and American Legion Post 34; and

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure as an Assistant Commonwealth?s Attorney, Dennis Hanrahan has faithfully fulfilled his duties and exemplified the ideals of a dedicated public servant; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Dennis J. Hanrahan hereby be commended for his exemplary service to the residents of Loudoun County on the occasion of his retirement as an Assistant Commonwealth?s Attorney; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dennis J. Hanrahan as an expression of the House of Delegates? congratulations and admiration and respect for his commitment to justice.
