SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 47
Commending the Hampton Roads Case Management Society.

WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Case Management Society celebrates five years of providing professional development and educational resources to case managers in the Hampton Roads area in 2012; and

WHEREAS, a chapter of the Case Management Society of America, the Hampton Roads Case Management Society reaches out to case management professionals in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Isle of Wight, Smithfield, Franklin, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, Yorktown, and the Eastern Shore; and

WHEREAS, case management professionals work in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors and help provide an array of services to individuals and families facing complex situations such as serious physical health issues, mental health issues, addictions, long-term care, and aging; and

WHEREAS, often, individuals or family members facing certain health situations are overwhelmed or bewildered by the complexity of health care systems and services and are uncertain as to what direction in which to proceed or how to obtain help; and

WHEREAS, case managers can help individuals assess their own goals, needs, and resources and facilitate connections with appropriate service providers; and

WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Case Management Society has grown to over 85 members since its inception in 2007 and holds bi-monthly meetings, educational seminars, and an annual conference; and

WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Case Management Society encourages healthcare professionals in all fields to become certified case managers and provides continuing education credits for certified case managers; and

WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Case Management Society strives to serve the local community, with members participating in a food drive and supporting local healthcare centers; and

WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Case Management Society looks forward to continuing to provide education and support to case management professionals in the Hampton Roads area; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Hampton Roads Case Management Society on the occasion of its fifth anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Hampton Roads Case Management Society as an expression of the General Assembly?s congratulations and admiration for the organization?s commitment to promoting the professional development of case management professionals.
