HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 228
Commending the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 22, 2013

 

WHEREAS, in 2013 the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary of promoting Brunswick County as a great place in which to live, to work, and to do business; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1913 as the Chamber of Commerce of Lawrenceville, the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce took its current name in 1965; and

WHEREAS, over the years, the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce has been ably served by a number of dedicated citizens, including former Governor of Virginia and Brunswick County native, Albertis S. Harrison, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce brings together community, business, education, and civic leaders who work together for the county’s common good; and

WHEREAS, the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce has played a pivotal role in a variety of issues and initiatives of interest to the residents of the county; and

WHEREAS, the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce has been a driving force behind the promotion and marketing of one of the county’s signature items, Brunswick Stew, which today is enjoyed by individuals across the Commonwealth and the nation; and

WHEREAS, today, the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce boasts 125 members who generously give of their time and talents to ensure the economic vitality of the county; and

WHEREAS, as the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 100th anniversary, it looks forward to continuing to serve county residents and businesses; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce hereby be commended on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the organization’s commitment to Brunswick County.
