A BILL to require the Board of Counseling to establish fees for the licensure and certification of professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, substance abuse treatment professionals, and rehabilitation providers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the Board of Counseling shall establish fees for the licensure and certification of professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, substance abuse treatment practitioners, substance abuse counselors, substance abuse counseling assistants, and rehabilitation providers as follows:

For an initial license as a professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or substance abuse treatment practitioner, a fee of $190;

For renewal of a current, active license as a professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or substance abuse treatment practitioner, a fee of $150;

For renewal of a current, inactive license as a professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or substance abuse treatment practitioner, a fee of $80;

For reinstatement as a licensed professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or substance abuse treatment practitioner, a fee of $245;

For an initial certificate as a substance abuse counselor, rehabilitation provider, or substance abuse counseling assistant, a fee of $120;

For renewal of a current, active certificate as a substance abuse counselor or rehabilitation provider, a fee of $80;

For reinstatement as a certified substance abuse counselor or rehabilitation provider, a fee of $150;

For renewal of a certificate as a substance abuse counseling assistant, a fee of $65;

For registration as a marriage and family therapy resident, a fee of $105;

For the registration of supervision, a fee of $80;

For the registration of a change of supervisor or addition of a supervisor, a fee of $40; and

For registration as a postgraduate trainee, a fee of $105.

Such fees shall also include the following:

For late application  for an initial license or renewal of a license, a late fee of $50;

For late application for an initial certificate or renewal of a certificate, a late fee of $25;

For a duplicate wall certificate, a fee of $25;

For a duplicate license, a fee of $15; and

For a returned check, a fee of $35.
