SJ342: Celebrating the life of Bernard Lewis McGinnis II.
WHEREAS, Bernard Lewis McGinnis II, an inspiring member of the Shipman community of Nelson County, died on August 11, 2012; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Nelson County High School, Bernard McGinnis earned a bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon College, where he enjoyed the friendships formed as a member of Lambda Chi Alpha; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated employee of the Central Virginia Electric Cooperative in Lovingston, Bernard McGinnis spent his entire career with the organization and earned the respect of his coworkers and management for his faithful service; and
WHEREAS, compassionate and hardworking, Bernard McGinnis took part in community endeavors as a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, serving as a member of the vestry and on numerous other committees; and
WHEREAS, Bernard McGinnis was also a longtime member of the Nelson County Habitat for Humanity and served as the 2010 Honorary Chair of the Nelson County Relay for Life team; and
WHEREAS, known and admired for his upbeat attitude, positive outlook, and commitment to helping those around him, Bernard McGinnis touched the lives of countless individuals with his well-lived life; and
WHEREAS, Bernard McGinnis will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his parents, Kate and Bernard; sister, Mary, and her family; and other dear family members, friends, and coworkers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected citizen of Nelson County, Bernard Lewis McGinnis II; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Bernard Lewis McGinnis II as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
