Officers need to live within their means, and BUDGET their money just like everyone else in the state!
State police are well compensated and deserve it, however VHA is not required. No one is forced to be a state police officer. This is a chosen profession. Instead of wasting taxpayer money on VHA, how about an intelligent solution for a change. For example, if an officer is assigned to a high cost of living area, why not incorporate a rotation policy. Officers in high cost of living areas would be rotated to a low cost of living area at set intervals...maybe every five years. This costs taxpayers very little and levels the financial burden for all officers.
