A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 23-2.4, relating to boards of visitors; student-athlete discipline policies.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 23-2.4 as follows:

§ 23-2.4. Student-athlete discipline policies.

The board of visitors or other governing board of each public institution of higher education in the Commonwealth shall establish [ and enforce ]  policies for the discipline of students who participate in varsity intercollegiate athletics. [ Such policies shall include a provision requiring an annual report by the administration of the institution to the board of visitors or other governing board regarding enforcement actions taken pursuant to such policies. ]

2. That the board of visitors or other governing board of each public institution of higher education in the Commonwealth shall establish policies pursuant to this act no later than July 1, 2015.
