Exemption from creditor process; bankruptcy proceedings. Makes several changes to articles that may be exempted from creditor process: (i) allows individuals to exempt those items enumerated in the federal Bankruptcy Reform Act (currently Virginia is an opt-out state); (ii) removes the one gun limit, though the $3,000 cap remains the same; (iii) removes the one car limit, though the $6,000 cap remains the same; (iv) allows those portions of a tax refund or governmental payment attributable to the federal Child Tax Credit or the Earned Income Credit to be exempted; (v) allows unpaid spousal or child support to be exempted; and (vi) extends the exemption from creditor process to spousal and child support, to the extent reasonably necessary for the support of the debtor and any dependent of the debtor.
