Commending Rostov's Coffee and Tea.

WHEREAS, in 2014, Rostov’s Coffee and Tea, a family-owned business offering one of Richmond’s largest selections of fresh coffee and tea, celebrated 35 years of outstanding service to customers and the community; and

WHEREAS, founded by Jay Rostov in November 1979 as Carytown Coffee and Tea, Rostov’s Coffee and Tea played a crucial role in the development of the Carytown business district; Jay Rostov served as president of the Carytown Merchants Association and was a cofounder of the Watermelon Festival; and

WHEREAS, in 1999, Tammy Rostov followed in her father’s footsteps as owner of Rostov’s Coffee and Tea and renamed the business in honor of her family; in 2006, the business moved to its current location on West Main Street; and

WHEREAS, under Tammy Rostov’s leadership, the experienced roasters at Rostov’s Coffee and Tea use the highest quality beans and ingredients from around the world to create a wide variety of roasts, blends, and brews; and

WHEREAS, Tammy Rostov has also supported other small businesses by advocating for small business reforms related to credit card processing and health care laws at the state and national levels; and

WHEREAS, Rostov’s Coffee and Tea is an active partner in the community, with many employees volunteering their time and talents in charitable organizations or offering generous donations to local causes; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Rostov’s Coffee and Tea on the occasion of its 35th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tammy Rostov, owner of Rostov’s Coffee and Tea, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the business’s legacy of success and its many contributions to the Richmond community.
