Commending the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling.

WHEREAS, the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling, a nonprofit professional organization founded on September 24, 1965, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2015; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC) is to support and advance college admission professionals as they guide their institutions, students, and families in an ethical manner; and

WHEREAS, the membership of PCACAC includes professionals who work and reside in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, PCACAC is one of 23 regional affiliates of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, an organization of more than 14,000 professionals from around the world dedicated to serving students as they make choices about pursuing postsecondary education; and

WHEREAS, PCACAC believes in and advocates for equal access for all students to higher education opportunities and pursues that advocacy through ethical practices; professional development for counselors in the region; promotion of best practices in the profession; and pursuing active involvement with state, regional, and national political leaders; and

WHEREAS, PCACAC is recognized as a trusted source of knowledge, education, and training in the Potomac and Chesapeake regions, offering an array of contemporary professional development programs to members and prospective members; and

WHEREAS, PCACAC will celebrate its 50th anniversary at its annual professional development conference for its membership on April 19 - 21, 2015, at the Homestead in Hot Springs; the first annual conference was held in Charlottesville; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the organization’s contributions and service to students in the Commonwealth.
