Commending Casey Veatch.

WHEREAS, Casey Veatch was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstones, Inc., with the prestigious 2015 Best of Reston Vade Bolton–Ann Rodriguez Legacy Award; and

WHEREAS, the Vade Bolton-Ann Rodriguez Legacy Award is given in memory of two past Best of Reston honorees who played a special role in the development, growth, and work of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstones, Inc. (formerly Reston Interfaith), and who shared a special passion and gift for mentoring and inspiring young people and future leaders; and

WHEREAS, Casey Veatch grew up in Reston during its early years, experiencing the community’s values of inclusion and fellowship firsthand; he followed in the footsteps of his father, a former Best of Reston winner, to become a generous volunteer and leader; and

WHEREAS, Casey Veatch is a living example that one person can make a big difference in a community, and he has inspired and motivated others as a member and leader of numerous civic and service organizations; and

WHEREAS, as one of the founders of the High Tech Prayer Breakfast ministry in Northern Virginia, Casey Veatch has united thousands of local residents to help them grow together in faith and become leaders in their families, careers, and communities; and

WHEREAS, Casey Veatch was a longtime member of the board of directors for Northern Virginia Family Service, where he helped the board achieve its philanthropic mission through his tenacity and passion for service; he has helped organize the organization’s annual gala for 15 years; and

WHEREAS, taking an active role in the lives of younger members of the Reston community, Casey Veatch has coached more than five youth basketball teams and has worked closely with Ethics Day at South Lakes High School, which teaches students how to respond to ethical dilemmas; and

WHEREAS, Casey Veatch worked to enhance the quality of life of his fellow residents as a member of Reston Chamber of Commerce and an officer in Leadership Fairfax, Inc., where he supported and mentored countless young leaders; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Casey Veatch on his well-deserved honor as the 2015 Best of Reston Vade Bolton–Ann Rodriguez Legacy Award recipient; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Casey Veatch as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his tireless dedication to the Reston community.
