SJ359: Celebrating the life of Patricia Carolyn McWaters.
WHEREAS, Patricia Carolyn McWaters, a beloved member of the Virginia Beach community, died on August 28, 2014; and
WHEREAS, a native of Paducah, Kentucky, Patricia “Patsy” McWaters was the youngest of three children, born to John Clifton and Lovie Julia Dowdy on March 7, 1928; and
WHEREAS, Patsy McWaters attended high school at St. Mary’s Academy, followed by two years at Nazareth College, and graduated from Murray State University; and
WHEREAS, in 1948, Patsy McWaters married her high school sweetheart, Joe McWaters, and for 65 years they shared the joys of life by each other’s side, creating a large family as they had always wanted; and
WHEREAS, Patsy McWaters and her husband were blessed with four children and then two of their children’s spouses: Brenda, Joe, Jr., Jeff and his wife, Cindy, and Tim and his wife, Lynne; and
WHEREAS, Joe and Patsy McWaters’ blessings continued with the arrival of five grandchildren: Jason, Lisa, Megan, Hunter, and Taylor, followed by six great-grandchildren: Connor, Josh, Noah, Micah, Emma, and Joe Leon; and
WHEREAS, Patsy McWaters was a dedicated third-grade teacher for several years, and she spent many years in medical practice office management; and
WHEREAS, for 42 years Patsy McWaters dedicated her life to her passion for working with those suffering and recovering from drug and alcohol addiction; and
WHEREAS, Patsy McWaters’ magnetic personality and compassionate demeanor made her a friend to everyone she met; and
WHEREAS, Patsy McWaters led a faithful life and was an active member of Star of the Sea Parish; and
WHEREAS, Patsy McWaters was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated herself to her family; she was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Patricia Carolyn McWaters; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Patricia Carolyn McWaters, as an expression of the General Assembly’s sympathy for her family and respect for her memory.
