State Police; reporting hate crimes. Includes within the definition of "hate crime" a criminal act committed against a person because of sexual orientation or gender identification and requires the reporting of the commission of such crime to the State Police. Read the Bill »

The ACLU of Virginia supports this bill. At a time when historic numbers of transgender persons are being assaulted and killed because of who they are, it is important to ensure all such hate crimes are reported and tracked by the State Police.
Equality Virginia supports this bill.
