Comments
The statement above "Currently home inspectors must be certified"
Is wrong, currently in Virginia home inspectors only need a business card. If they want to put the word certified on their report then they must be licensed by the state otherwise nothing is required.
I believe that all home inspectors regardless of how long they have been inspecting homes should be required to take the National Home Inspectors Exam, is cost $250.00 less than a home inspection fee. All home inspectors should be required to carry GL and E&O insurance which averages out to just over $100.00 per month. Continuing ED or CE's cost less than $500.00 per year.
The costs associated with being a licensed home inspector is very low and would not cause a finical burden to any home inspector not currently licensed by the state.
