Commending John Cataldo.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 12, 2016

 

WHEREAS, John Cataldo, a patriotic veteran and a respected community leader and public servant in Brunswick County, retired as a member of the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors in 2015; and

WHEREAS, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, John Cataldo was reared in Southern California and served his country as a member of the United States Navy; during his 26 years of active duty, he served in the Vietnam War and earned a bachelor’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School; and

WHEREAS, John Cataldo originally moved to the Commonwealth in 1971 and pursued a career in civil service at the Naval Safety Center in Norfolk, where he specialized in aviation safety until his retirement from the center in 2002; and

WHEREAS, John Cataldo became an active member of the Delbridge Estates community in Brunswick County, where he built his home; he joined the Lake Gaston Weed Control Council and the Lake Gaston Association as Brunswick County director, where he served as president for two years and currently sits on the executive board; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to his fellow residents, John Cataldo ran for and was elected to the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors in 2011 and ably represented the Meherrin District; and

WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement, John Cataldo plans to seek new opportunities to serve the community and spend more time with his wife, Pat, and their grown children; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That John Cataldo hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement as a member of the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors in 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to John Cataldo as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his service to Brunswick County, the Commonwealth, and the United States.
