HR62: Commending the New Kent High School golf team.
WHEREAS, the New Kent High School golf team finished the 2015 season in admirable style by advancing to the Virginia High School League Group 3A state championship after winning its first Group 3A East Region competition on October 1; and
WHEREAS, the talented golfers of the 2015 New Kent High School golf team also won the Bay Rivers District competition and the subsequent Conference 25 title as they moved higher in Virginia High School League (VHSL) rankings; and
WHEREAS, during the VHSL Bay Rivers District golf competition, the New Kent High School Trojans happily claimed the trophy at the conclusion of the match; the teams in the number two and three spots were talented squads from Jamestown and Lafayette High Schools; and
WHEREAS, at the 2015 Conference 25 and the VHSL Group 3A East Regional golf matches, the determined and hardworking team from New Kent High School faced down the same opponent; the golfers twice defeated a talented group from Warhill High School; and
WHEREAS, the members of the New Kent High School golf team have become stronger each of the past four years; they emerged as a potent force in 2015, boasting a combination of veteran athletes and skilled newcomers; and
WHEREAS, the New Kent High School golf team is ably coached by Charles Davis, who works at a nearby golf club; that position allows him to connect his students with professional golfers, whose experience and advice have helped the team to improve individually and as a group; and
WHEREAS, the members of the New Kent High School golf team were enthusiastically supported throughout the season by their families, friends, students, staff, fellow golfers, and the entire school community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the New Kent High School golf team hereby be commended for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 3A East Region championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Charles Davis, head coach of the New Kent High School golf team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the team’s outstanding season and impressive achievements.
