[Unknown]: OOH THE SENATOR HAS THE FLOOR.

Sen. Bill Stanley (R-Moneta): THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT. SENATE BILL 19 CONCERNS THE CREATION OF A THREE YEAR TELEMEDICINE TELEHEALTH TELEPSYCH PILOT PROGRAM TO BE CREATED IN THE UNDERSERVED AND UNDERMEDICALLY UNDER PRIVILEGED AREAS THROUGHOUT THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA. I THINK YOU PROBABLY HEARD ME SAY THIS TALKING ABOUT RURAL HEALTHCARE. RIGHT NOW A PROBLEM IN TERMS OF HAVING ENOUGH DOCTORS TO SERVE THE PEOPLE IN THE MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED AREAS IN PLACES LIKE SOUTH SIDE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND UNDERSERVED AREAS EVEN IN THE URBAN AREAS. WE ARE TRYING TO BRING THE BEST AND BRIGHTEST DOCTORS AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS FROM ALL DISCIPLINES TOGETHER IN USING TELEMEDICINE AND TELEHEALTH THE COULD MANY PEWTER OR THE PHONE TO -- THE COMPUTER OR THE PHONE TO BRING THEM INTO THE PATIENT CENTER MEDICAL HOME TO DIAGNOSE AND HELP TREAT AND MANAGE THE CARE OF THE PEOPLE THAT OTHERWISE MIGHT NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THE HIGH QUALITY PHYSICIANS, DOCTORS, TREAT THEM AND MANAGE THEIR CARE. THIS TRIES TO SOLVE ONE OF OUR PROBLEMS THAT WE HAVE IN THE RURAL AND MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED AREAS AND IF WE CAN IN AND THE PILOT PROGRAM IS SUCCESSFUL, MR. PRESIDENT, WE WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE IT PORTABLE TO APPLY TO WHETHER IT BE IN THE COAL FIELDS OR IN THE INNER CITIES HERE IN THE COMMONWEALTH.
