Comments
Is anyone able to verify if a current version of the bill explicitly includes irritable bowel syndrome or not? The description above does include it, and also states "any other medical condition requiring immediate access to a toilet facility" similar to restroom access laws in other states. However, the linked bill only refers to "Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or any other inflammatory bowel disease."
While irritable bowel syndrome similarly causes urgent and unpredictable restroom needs for many, it is a different condition from inflammatory bowel diseases. IBS Impact would be pleased to join our peers in the IBD community in advocating for this bill *if* we can be assured that it covers people with IBS, who are statistically more numerous (30-58 million with IBS in the U.S. depending on various estimates, and 1.3 million with IBD according to CCFA.
