Commending Susanne Eisner.

WHEREAS, Susanne Eisner, a passionate advocate for residents of Northern Virginia in need, retired as director of the Arlington County Department of Human Services in May 2015 after more than 30 years of diligent service; and

WHEREAS, Susanne Eisner earned a bachelor’s degree from City College of New York and a master’s degree from George Mason University; she worked as an employment counselor for refugees before joining the Arlington County Department of Human Services in 1984 as a member of the Arlington Employment Center; and

WHEREAS, Susanne Eisner went on to serve as chief of the Economic Independence Division and held the position of deputy director of the Arlington County Department of Human Services for three years; and

WHEREAS, after becoming director of the Arlington County Department of Human Services in 2005, Susanne Eisner consolidated all of the department’s programs at Sequoia Plaza to increase efficiency and better serve the public from one centralized location; and

WHEREAS, deeply respected for both her business savvy and her understanding of social services delivery, Susanne Eisner worked to ensure that the more than 800 employees of the Arlington County Department of Human Services had the tools and training to address complex issues and provide exceptional support to the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Susanne Eisner on the occasion of her retirement as director of the Arlington County Department of Human Services; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Susanne Eisner as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her work to serve and empower all Arlington County residents and its best wishes for her well-earned retirement.
