Commending the Greater Manassas Baseball League 8U all-star softball team.
 
Agreed to by the Senate, February 18, 2016
 

WHEREAS, the Greater Manassas Baseball League 8U all-star softball team, a group of determined young athletes hailing from the Manassas area, won the Babe Ruth League World Series championship in August 2015; and

WHEREAS, after winning the state title and placing second in regionals, the members of the Greater Manassas Baseball League 8U all-star softball team advanced to the national tournament, where they went undefeated and bested the team from Fern Creek, Kentucky, by a score of 6–2 in the championship final; and

WHEREAS, Allyson Logan put the Greater Manassas Baseball League 8U all-star softball team on the board first with an RBI single in the second inning; the team added four more runs in the fourth inning and relied on strong defense to close out the game and claim the national title; and

WHEREAS, Kayli Lamboy went three for three at the plate in the championship final, recording a triple in the second inning, a double in the third inning, and a single in the sixth inning, earning the Batting Champion award; and

WHEREAS, the victory is a testament to the skill and hard work of each of the athletes, the leadership and guidance of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the Manassas community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Greater Manassas Baseball League 8U all-star softball team hereby be commended on winning the 2015 Babe Ruth League World Series championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Charlie Joo, head coach of the Greater Manassas Baseball League 8U all-star softball team, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for the team’s achievements and best wishes for the future.
