Commending the Reverend Leonard Spady, Jr.

WHEREAS, the Reverend Leonard Spady, Jr., has served the voters of Northampton County for 25 years with enthusiasm and distinction as a member of the Northampton County Electoral Board; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Northampton County Electoral Board, Leonard Spady has helped to ensure that elections were run with fairness, accuracy, and integrity; and

WHEREAS, during Leonard Spady’s tenure, he has helped to execute six presidential elections, six gubernatorial elections and scores of federal, state, and local elections; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Spady is an eighth-generation native of Northampton County whose family lineage in the area dates back to 1753; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Spady is a beloved and influential member of the Eastern Shore community, serving as pastor of St. John’s Baptist Church for 25 years, as a public school teacher in Northampton and Accomack Counties, and as an employee of Delmarva Power and Light; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Spady attended Northampton County Public Schools and graduated from Norfolk State University; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Spady and his wife, Carrie Elizabeth, raised four beloved children—Felicia, Jaclyn, Leonard, and Sandra—about whom he always speaks with pride; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Reverend Leonard Spady, Jr., hereby be commended for his dedicated service as a member of the Northampton County Electoral Board; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Reverend Leonard Spady, Jr., as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for his contributions to the Eastern Shore community.
