Description
Assault and battery against a family or household member; eligibility for first offender status. Precludes a person who has been convicted of any felony from being eligible for first offender status for assault and battery against a family or household member. Under current law, only prior convictions for assault and battery against a family or household member serve as a disqualifier. Read the Bill »

I do yield. can you explain what the settlement was? there was question on our side of the aisle as to whether or not we need to clarify the language. It was originally one sentence and now broken into two clauses, a and b. Mr. Speaker. yield for another question. does the gentleman yield? the gentleman yields. can you start from the bebeginning and explain it to me because I have no idea what you just said. Mr. Speaker I would say that the bill originally was in one sentence and stated that if you were a previously convicted violent felon that you would not be eligible for first offender status without the approval of the commonwealth. This now says that exact same thing but does it in two clauses instead of one. okay. Is thank you, Mr. Speaker.
