Description

Department of Transportation; Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment of the Secretary of Transportation; responsibilities. Shifts responsibilities for transportation planning activities from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment of the Secretary of Transportation. The bill specifies VDOT's core functions and limits the agency's duties to those core functions. The bill requires transparency in the development of the Six-Year Improvement Program by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) and requires the CTB and VDOT to make public certain information related to the selection of projects. taking accountability away out of the voters control?
putting it into the hands of ' appointed ' people
do you consider the voter so stupid that you don't want them to have any control of those people who have the responsibility of providing for the needs of the taxpayers transportation needs?.
.
how is the action justified?---is the people of VDOT doing such a bad job?
isn't the control of VDOT by state officials enough?
.
as it now stands CBT has final say in every transportation project in the state
and for some reason this bill is to expand those powers
taking more control away from the voters
I still smell the stink of the Elisabeth River Crossing
I still resent that our elected representatives in Richmond had no control of those actions and you expect people will support this action?

frank papcin writes:

how come when i go and print this it shows where I can vote but not when I'm trying my comments?
and I can not vote while it's in the print mode?
where can i vote on this bill?-- or don't you want any votes?

sorry found the vote section

no-- the ctb is run by appointed people selected by the governor with no overview control with elected officials chosen by the people that they serve.
VDOT people can be fired by politicians that might want to
-- appointed people are above the control of the citizenry they are representing
the more people you put in between the govern and the controlling powers, diminishes the people's control of anything-- the ' ERC ' being a prime example
