This bill was discussed on the floor of the General Assembly. Below is all of the video that we have of that discussion, 2 clips in all, totaling 2 minutes.

Transcript

This is a transcript of the video clips in which this bill is discussed.

Sen. Scott Surovell (D-Mount Vernon): AND NOTHING ELSE. SECONDLY THE BILL MAKES CLEAR THAT YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO PASS SOMEBODY ON THE RIGHT USING A BICYCLE LANE. THAT'S ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS MANEUVERS THE CAR CAN DO. MOST DRIVERS DON'T LOOK TO THEIR RIGHT. THEY DON'T THINK ABOUT THE BIKE COMING UP ON THE RIGHT AND IT'S A VERY DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR AND A HUGE PROBLEM IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA IN TERMS OF CARS USING BIKE LANES TO PASS CARS ON THE RIGHT. IT MAKES CLEAR THAT'S A TRAFFIC I HOPE THE BODY WILL PASS THE OFFENSE. BILL.

[Unknown]: THE SENATOR FROM GRAYSON COUNTY, SENATOR CARRICO.

Sen. Bill Carrico (R-Grayson): RISE TO SPEAK IN OPPOSITION TO THE BILL.

[Unknown]: THE SENATOR HAS THE FLOOR.

Sen. Bill Carrico (R-Grayson): WHILE THE SENATOR MAKES SOME GOOD POINTS TO TRY TO DELINEATE BICYCLE SAFETY, THERE'S ALSO A CAVEAT TO THIS THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAS BEEN OFTEN TRAINED IN THEIR DRIVING HABITS TO DO. IF YOU HAVE A PAVED PORTION OF THE HIGHWAY AND THERE'S A VEHICLE TURNING, YOU CAN ALWAYS PASS THAT VEHICLE ON THE RIGHT IF IT'S A PAVED PORTION AND YOU DON'T LEAVE THAT PAVED PORTION TO PASS THAT VEHICLE ON. WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO IS YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TRAFFIC

Catherine Flaatten writes:

If people with cancer want to use marijuana for treatment or symptom alleviation, they should be able to do so. I support this bill.
