Description
Services of summons for witness or subpoena duces tecum on foreign business entities. Allows the court to enforce compliance with a summons for witness or a subpoena duces tecum served on the registered agent of a foreign business entity registered with the State Corporation Commission to transact business in the Commonwealth, regardless of whether the foreign business entity is a party to the underlying case. This bill is in response to the Supreme Court of Virginia decision in Yelp, Inc. v. Hadeed Carpet Cleaning, Inc., Record No. 140242, 770 S.E.2d 440 (2015) and is a recommendation of the Boyd-Graves Conference. Read the Bill »
