Description
Commonwealth's tax code; conformity with federal law; emergency. Advances conformity of the Commonwealth's tax code with the federal tax code to December 31, 2017; however, the bill conforms only to certain provisions of Public Law 115-97, known as the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act," that affect taxable years prior to 2018. The bill conforms to provisions creating an incentive for taxpayers to make contributions to 2017 hurricane relief efforts and certain other provisions. The bill contains an emergency clause and is identical to SB 230. Read the Bill »

and this has to do with medical expense deduction threshold. Had we gone forward with the bill as I initially brought it, we would have put a 44 million-dollar hole in the budget and I thought it was more prudent going forward not to include that provision.
