Description
Grand larceny; threshold. Increases from $200 to $750 the threshold amount of money taken or value of goods or chattel taken at which the crime rises from petit larceny to grand larceny. The bill increases the threshold by the same amount for the classification of certain property crimes. Read the Bill »

The ACLU of VA supports increasing the Felony Larceny threshold to $1,500. While this bill is a step in the right direction, it barely adjust the threshold to keep up with inflation ($200 in 1980s dollar amount, the last time the threshold was increased, is about $600 in today's dollar amount)
