Description
Missing-heir search firms; void contracts. Provides that, prior to 36 months from the date of a decedent's death, any contract or agreement between a missing-heir search firm, as defined in the bill, and an heir or potential heir to such decedent's estate, identified as unknown or whose address has been identified as unknown by affidavit of a personal representative or other fiduciary granted administration of such an estate, is against public policy, void, and unenforceable. The bill further provides that a personal representative or other fiduciary granted administration of an estate is not prohibited from initiating or entering into a contract with a missing-heir search firm to locate heirs or potential heirs.
