Description

Statewide Fire Prevention Code; powers and duties of the Virginia Fire Services Board. Transfers primary authority for the adoption of the Statewide Fire Prevention Code from the Board of Housing and Community Development to the Virginia Fire Services Board (the Board). The bill allows the Board to convene an ad hoc committee whenever it proposes a change to the Statewide Fire Prevention Code for the purpose of advising the Board. The bill also requires the Board to develop the means to publicize the policies and programs of the Department of Fire Programs to educate the public and elicit public support.
