Description

Taxation of aviation jet fuel; distribution of certain revenues to Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Imposes a tax at a rate of five cents per gallon on aviation jet fuel purchased or used by an airline licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration with more than eight billion passenger-miles originating at Virginia airports during the calendar year and any regional air carrier contracting with such airline. The bill disburses revenue from the tax to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (the Authority), provided that the Authority enters into an agreement to use the proceeds to finance Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project and to reduce toll rates on users of the Dulles Toll Road. If the Authority does not enter into such an agreement, the bill prohibits the Department of Aviation from disbursing any revenue from taxes on aviation fuel to the Authority. Read the Bill »
