Description
Disposition of property in Carroll County; Southwestern Virginia Training Center. Provides that the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) shall not convey, sell, or otherwise dispose of certain real property located in Carroll County on which the former Southwestern Virginia Training Center was situated. The bill directs DBHDS to work with representatives of Carroll and Grayson Counties and the City of Galax, as well as other stakeholders, to develop a plan for the conveyance, sale, or other disposition of the property for the purpose of housing children requiring foster care or as a juvenile residential treatment facility. The bill provides that the prohibition on such disposition expires on July 1, 2021; however, any subsequent disposition is subject to approval by the General Assembly. Read the Bill »
