Description

Removal of a child; names and contact information of relatives or other interested individuals, including grandparents and extended family members. Provides that, in any proceeding in which a child is removed from his home, the court shall order the parents or guardians of such child to provide the names and contact information for all relatives and other interested individuals, including grandparents and extended family members, to the local department of social services. The bill further updates removal provisions of Title 16.1 (Courts Not of Record) referencing an "other interested individual" to include extended family members. Under current law, "other interested individual" includes only a specific reference to grandparents. Amends § 16.1-251, § 16.1-252, § 16.1-277.01, § 16.1-277.02, § 16.1-278.2, § 16.1-278.3, § 16.1-283, of the Code of Virginia. Read the Bill »
