An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 9.1-1101.1, relating to Department of Forensic Science; possession of unlawful items by employees; immunity.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 9.1-1101.1 as follows:

§ 9.1-1101.1. Possession or transfer of unlawful items by Department employees while engaged in the performance of official duties.

Whenever the possession or transfer of any item or material is prohibited by law, such prohibition shall not apply to any Department employee who possesses or transfers such prohibited item or material while engaged in the performance of his official duties.
