SB1044: Funeral directors and embalmers; Board to promulgate regulations for licensure.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. That the Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers shall promulgate regulations that establish the requirements of licensure for funeral directors and embalmers as defined in § 54.1-2800.
2. That the Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers shall promulgate regulations to implement the provisions of this act to be effective within 280 days of its enactment.

SENATE BILL NO. 1044
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 54.1-2804 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 54.1-2804. Licensing authority.
The Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers is authorized to determine the qualifications to enable any person to engage in the practice of funeral service, preneed funeral planning, funeral directing, embalming, and the operation of a funeral service establishment. The Board shall be authorized to issue separate licenses for (i) funeral director, (ii) embalmer, and (iii) funeral services.
