A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Title 2.2 a chapter numbered 4.2:2, consisting of a section numbered 2.2-435.12, relating to the creation of the State Employee Ombudsman.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Title 2.2 a chapter numbered 4.2:2, consisting of a section numbered 2.2-435.12, as follows:

CHAPTER 4.2:2.
STATE EMPLOYEE OMBUDSMAN.

§ 2.2-435.12. State Employee Ombudsman established; duties.

A. As used in this section, "state employee" means any person who is regularly employed full time on a salaried basis in the executive branch of government, whose tenure is not restricted as to temporary or provisional appointment.

B. The position of a State Employee Ombudsman (the Ombudsman) is created. The Ombudsman shall provide assistance to state employees in understanding human resources policies and rules and accessing available benefits, programs, and resources.
