A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 22.1-271.9, relating to private school employees and volunteers; essential workers; personal protective equipment during certain declared states of emergency; emergency.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-271.9 as follows:

§ 22.1-271.9. Declared state of emergency; private school employees and volunteers; essential workers; personal protective equipment.

In any case in which the Governor has declared a state of emergency related to a communicable disease of public health threat pursuant to § 44-146.17, individuals working or volunteering in a private elementary or secondary school in the Commonwealth shall be considered essential workers and shall be included in any group afforded priority with regard to access to personal protective equipment during such state of emergency.

2. That an emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
